I've been here twice so far. Went once in December for my boyfriend's sisters babyshower and we had a buffet style lunch. I never expect much from buffets and his family knows I am a picky eater. So I went and got my plate and sat down. Now I have never liked Fettucine Alfredo before but I decided to try it since it was a buffet and all and dear God, it was amazing. I kept going back for more. Last Friday my bf and I went there again to try it out for dinner. It was nice and empty, only about 4 tables filled on a Friday night. There was one waiter and one bus boy. The services was adaquet, nothing special, but again the food was great. I got the fettucine Alfredo again and my bf got the Parm Chicken. He loved it! We def will be going back. Price wasnt too bad. Got 2 meals and an appetizer for 38 bucks.

Stopped in today to grab lunch, as I work down the street. Under newer ownership or name change. Italian options, salads, paninis, pasta, pizza, etc. went with an Italian chicken veggie panini and it was great! I usually drive a little further to other local delis but this place offered a great value at approx $6.50 for a sandwich filled with freshly grilled white meat chicken and fresh veggies. Looking forward to picking up a salad in the future. Staff was friendly and food was solid! A/C is not great but still a 4 star lunch today.

I love Sorrentos- Im not sure what these others are talking about. Maybe they were rude to the servers or are bad tippers....Anyway-Sorrento's catered my company Christmas party for 3 separate locations. The food was fantastic and they also sent servers to help with portion control to make sure everyone got food (we are a fairly large company). Everyone at the company loved the food and asked if they will cater again next year. The catering menu has many options for whatever type of party you are catering for. Also the managers know what they are doing, so I asked their opinion on what foods and packages I should order. In a total of almost 400 people the catering went off without any problems. I would highly recommend them!

Order a small cheese pizza and a tiramisu, it was ok. They say that their tiramisu is "homemade" but it did not have a lot of flavor (definitely have had better).

Our service was very good. On Tuesday, they is a half-priced buffet special (as long as you order a drink). The buffet includes iceberg lettuce salad, two soups, 3 pizza options, 2 pasta options and several vegetable side dishes. Everything I tried was pretty good, but nothing better than I would normally pack for munch myself. I think this was the first time I have ever had mashed potatoes and deep dish pizza together, which was a fun thing to check off the bucket list. There are deserts waiting for you when you are done with the main course. Or, I guess there is pizza waiting for you when you finish your cake.

This experience was so bad I had to start a yelp account just to review it. If your looking for a nice place to take your girlfriend for lunch and drinks....this is NOT the place. Drinks were watered down and horrible. Server over charged us for the "special" drinks of the day. We tried many drinks, including the margarita, the long island, a gin martini, etc all were horrible and tasted like little or no alcohol in any of them....INCLUDING THE MARTINI!!!! Save your time and money and go somewhere else!!!!!! Seriously....dont go here. And it was expensive.....and they tried to charge me twice. Finally, its located in sleaze-ville.

We have always enjoyed the food here but for the last couple of visits the place has gone down hill. Over the last year or so we have noticed the decline in business. A few times we were the only diners in the restaurant, once on a Saturday night which should be busy. I feel that due to the fact they don't have enough customers they are trying to cheat people. The last 2 times we dined here we had problems with payment. The first time we were overcharged and our bill needed to be corrected. The last time, the restaurant ran the charge for our meal twice and I am having a nightmare of a time getting my money back from our credit card company. The food was also not up to par. They changed the steak dinner to include a tomato sauce on top of the meat to hide inferior quality meat. Stay away from this place!

Ordered take out to our hotel. Worst meal I have ever had. Pizza, terrible ($3.25 per topping would have been ok if they actually put the toppings in the pizza). The rest of the meal was disgusting. We will never eat there again!

Went here for the lunch buffet with a coworker. The food isn't all that bad, but it was mostly just typical pastas that you could easily make just as good yourself, some pizza, and a salad bar. The desserts were boring and not very tasty. The wait staff was friendly, though, so that's a definite plus.

After a rare weekday off the girl & I had together, it was time to hit up the Sorrento's lunch buffet for the first time in YEARS. I'll keep this update simple. The buffet is still very good for the price. All kinds of pasta, pizza, & even broasted chicken which was my personal favorite. Oh yeah, lots of salads too. I'll definitely go back the next chance I get.

My family used to live in the area and patronized Sorrento's for years. My aunt and grandma even hostessed there for a while. I say all that in full disclosure because I'm biased, and I like Sorrento's. We used to order pizza, including some sort of BBQ chicken style that I remember from my childhood. Recently, we had a very large party out there for a Friday night buffet. The thin crust pizza was there and good as I remember (though the buffet didn't have the BBQ chicken). I really enjoyed the chicken and breaded eggplant (and put some of the red sauce) from the buffet. Minestrone soup was nice, and salad bar was just okay. There was a very friendly cook working a pasta station, and while I didn't get any a few people at my table had fun with it. Overall I recommend Sorrento's for dine-in or pizza take-out.

I had the lunch buffet this morning. It's somewhat expensive (just under $10) but the variety is decent and everything I tried was quite delicious. Certainly beat my expectations given this restaurant's industrial location and nondescript exterior. Nothing was too oily or greasy. If you've ever had Pizza Hut's buffet, Sorrento's is essentially a more upscale version.

Went to Sorrentos Village with two friends for a Holiday lunch. The restaurant was very busy with the lunch buffet. We are not much of a buffet eaters so we ordered off the menue.. The table we sat at was uneven and would rock, not acceptable. We had two appetizers, a party tray and calamari. Appetizers were adverage. I had a chicken salad which was tasty. The house pinot grigio was also very good. The waiter was a little slow in serving and seemed to be confused, with English. As for the owners, the Grazzano Family, they are good people. It was a fun time but not as good as it could be. I would change somethings. I have a lot of passion when it comes to Italian Style.

Went to Sorrento's for dinner last night to celebrate my Mom's birthday. We have been there several times before and keep going back because the food is so good. I ordered the baked mostacolli and it was delicious. Also, the house dressing is so good. Maybe not good for you but, it is really tasty to dip your bread in the house dressing. Service is also good. My grandmother ordered mushrooms on her sandwich and when the waiter brought it out he apologized because the cook had put the mushrooms in the side order of spaghetti she also ordered. Soon after, the cook came out with a small plate of mushrooms that my grandmother enjoyed on her sandwich very much!

I have been visiting restaurants in Melrose Park loooong before the Village turned into the toilet it is today. I don't know how they do it. The great places somehow decide to stay and stick it out as the shit piles up around them. Sorrentos Village being one of those survivors. What, 32 years ago I was in there probably on a nightly basis. The bar was hoppin' , the women (patrons AND waitresses) were SMOKIN' and the owners were like, like....BROTHERS. Ma and Pa were great hosts and like parents to us young guys who came by. Really. Well, time went by, and we drifted away. But, every once-in-a-while I would find myself drifting back, wondering what I might find....HOPING and PRAYING to God that my beloved young-man cave had not deteriorated and fell prey to the surroundings....row after row after row of store-front Mexican Taquerias, second hand stores, and pawn like shops up and down Mannheim road. But, to my delight like a beacon in the distance, there it was. Sorrentos Village. Still standing proud amongs the steaming piles of dog crap nipping at its toes. STILL, the test was yet to come. The food. The atmosphere. Did it? COULD it still exist after all these years? YES! YES! OH JESUS MERCY...YES! I walked in (lunch time, btw) only to hear FRANKIE and TONY and DEANO singing proudly over the speakers. The decor of Old Italy welcomed my oracles, and the smell of great home-made cooking inticed my olifactories. I was back in my man-cave. Frank, my contemporary and now owner greeted me as if I had never left, we caught up quickly on his life, mine and treated eachother like the old pals we once always were. But,the test wasn't over. I treated myself to the extensive buffet and wasn't disappointed. I bowed my head in praise to the Almighty....and proceeded to eat, once again, like I was going to the electric chair as I usually do when I love a place as much as I love Sorrento's Village. And the hits just kept on comin'. The lunch crowd was filled with newer hot babes, and lo and behold my waitress was a MILF to die for...no bimbette. Thank you, Frank. You remembered. Please, please. Go. At least for the luncheon buffet during the week. Bring an ox-cart to haul you home...cause you will, indeed, overeat. Chesters favorites.

The food here is horrible. The place looks dirty and dingy. I have to go here occationally for work meetings. I try to eat as little as possible, but I usually get sick afterwards. Friend got a fried chicken breast and she was removing the breading and under the breading was a hair. It was wrapped around the breast and under the breading, so it couldn't have been hers. I can't believe people are giving it 4 and 5 stars. YUK!

We ordered late at night maybe that was the problem. I ordered the pasta vesuvio. The description said chicken over linguine with our Vesuvio-style sauce. I had some sort of Italian sausage in there it made the entire dish taste TERRIBLE. The pasta was over-cooked. My boyfriend ordered an Italian sausage sandwich he seemed to enjoy. Then proceeded to spend the rest of the night in the restroom..I ended up just eating the bruschetta which was lovely.

As you people can see, I get around. I've never been one to shy away from a little commute. Heck, I do it every day for work. That's what brings me to lovely Franklin Park....day in and day out! Sorrento's is in Melrose Park next door, but to me all the "parks" just blend together. This is usually my lunchtime buffet spot. However, I've also eaten there for dinner too and ordered off the standard menu. It's a great spot. They have a banquet room which I imagine is available for special events. I've seen large parties in there. I've even been there when they had two Italian violinists serenading diners at each table. The food, of course, is excellent too. Some of the best in Franklin Park, which is a mostly industrialized area so a good restaurant is few and far between. If you ever decide to hang out in the "FP" or the "MP" (as I like to call it to make myself feel better -like it's some trendy Chicago neighborhood), you should definitely check it out! Hey, maybe people will think you are going to Melrose Place and you will get extra street cred points. Anyway, they are very nice people and I've enjoyed the food each and every time!

Fabulous food and prices! We moved to Chicago recently and my husband is determined to find the best pizza; so far this one is winning hands down! We went with our two little boys. We ordered an appetizer, which was huge and we couldn't finish. We each had just one slice of a large stuffed pepperoni pizza, taking home more than half. Then we ordered two desserts, and the total bill was just $34! We could have ordered the exact same meal with another couple and everyone would have gone home full. We're planning on going again tomorrow with my sister and her husband, and I can't wait!

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.
Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.
Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.
Italian Cuisine
The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.
Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.
If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
